Biography:
To break the ice, Larson was a straight up, hard working, Brooklyn man! What's new though, so is half the population of the world. Being born in the very first month of the year, on the third day of this month, in 1954 (Jan. 3,1954). While spending a few years in Brooklyn he quickly learned where his heart was at, Freeport, Long Island, one of the many suburbs of the great big apple (New York). He had three main goals in life as a child, I mean indescribable monumental goals. Are you ready for this? His main goals were: gliding on the top of crisp morning waves as the sun came out from it's cave where it settled at night at Jones Beach where all his worries vanished, second was battling ferocious green dragons as he climbed to the top of the tallest tower ( a tree) to rescue his princess (no-one), third was the best, riding his bike until his legs could take no more, riding until the very far reaches of the island. At first sight he wanted to be a cartoonist, but as usual no kid in junior-high said what they actually wanted to pursue in their life, and didn't change it a million times. Next he wrote a novel, now he seems to be on the right track! At the time he might not of known what a novel was, being that it was only 75 pages long, he did this when he got to stay home from school. 95 percent of the time Larson would pretend to be sick to stay home, he loved it, because he got to read the Dumas brothers and he got to draw, he would draw for hours upon hours, until his hand started to cringe because the muscles needed to relax. I'm sure his mom figured he was doing something to create a false sense of being sick, when he pulled 112 degree fevers I'm sure she figured a little white lie was being spilled. He actually did have a girl interest, her name was Michelle, who in fact shaped him into what he is mostly today! She was the very reason he went to the University of Pennsylvania. They dated, she dumped him, she took him back, dated for six months, dumped him again. This did take a big toll on him, and his ego for say, but he lived. He obviously turned out fine, and was ultimately happy. He took on a hard challenging language in college, Russian, and graduated Summa Cum Laude. His very first job was in New York where he was an editorial assistant, which in New York you are a play toy, or rookie at this level. Somehow he landed the job, how he did... I have no idea being he was a young kid just starting off and was reckless, probably a pity hire, obviously. There came a point where he actually became educated and persistent at what he did, he was actually decent, and enjoyed it. Two editors had it out for him, they wanted him, he thought it was because he was good at what he did, later he would learn that these two had it out for each other's guts and only did this out of hatred. Each of them would try to convince him to permanently stay with their company, trying to be dashing with their so called "charm". This was a hard decision for Larson, until he caught on to what these two had going on, then it became his game, and again he was happy. He insists that one thing changed his life forever... when he saw All the President’s Men. He then attended Columbia University, where he would further his education in journalism. His assignments were quite interesting and he found some people using some unkind words, but hey welcome to New York. Now, came graduation day! Now to make him even more nervous former-mayor John Lindsay was sitting in the very row behind his family! This should give you a little chuckle, after the ceremony his mother stood up from her chair and told Lindsay that he was the prettiest man she had ever seen, that seemed to prove embarrassing to Larson. He landed his first job quickly at the Bucks County Courier Times, but lost it just as quick, they hired a new guy instead. So he shipped his resume out to what seemed like every newspaper stand, editor, whatever it took, he wanted a job, period. Out of everything he was hired by the Wall Street Journal! Now this is what truly changed his life forever. He wrote many stories, and tried to stay away from the business side of it all, he just simply wanted to write, and not what he was told to right, he wanted to write from his heart. But there comes a time when all good things must come to an end, he got tired of writing journalism. He declined crazy offers, with large sums of money, that as a rookie he would of died to have. Soon after all was said and done he got married. Guess how he met this girl? A blind date of all things in the world, his wife and he soon moved to Baltimore, where he continued to write. Did some respectable free-lance pieces, some unpublished novels, helped raise some babies, and here he wrote his first actual published book, The Naked Consumer. He spent hours, weeks, even months on this book, and loved it, but no one else did. Then one thing led to another, and now he has a few major books under his belt. He now resides in Seattle with his blind-date wife and his three beautiful daughters. His wife thinks he plays a little bit too much tennis, cooks just as much, drinks too much red wine, and likes his martinis dry, just how he likes his humor. This story proves that everyone must start somewhere, that somewhere being the bottom.
